CAL Reaches Out Via Social Media

Posted on January 10, 2014 | in CAL News | by

Facebook logoLove it or hate, there is no denying that social media has dramatically changed the way both individuals and organizations communicate, and it’s here to stay. The CAL Board feels strongly that using social media can help us reach new members, communicate with current and prospective members, and help build our brand and image in the writing community. To that end we have launched several social media initiatives:

Facebook:
If you haven’t already visited the CAL Facebook page, please check it out right away! We’ll be posting links to our blog posts on our Facebook page, but will also use this as a hub to share any writing resources or news that comes to CAL from outside organizations. While you are there, be sure to like the page and share it with your friends:

1. On the CAL page, click the “Like” button at the top right
2. Hover over the “Liked” button after you have done this and click on get notifications”
3. Click on the small triangle to the right of the “Follow” button and to the right of the settings gear button
4. When the drop down menu appears, click on the “Share” link
5. Write a message and either share it by individual message with writing friends or post it to your own Facebook timeline.

Google+:

Pinterest:
Pinterest logoCAL has set up two boards already on the CAL Pinterest site – one for new member books, and one for writing tips we plan to share from the Writing, etc. book – and we look forward to adding more. For those of you not familiar with Pinterest yet, it’s just like the old fashioned bulletin board you might have had in your office, but it’s digital. So we “pin” links to other things online such that they are grouped together in an easy to find, visually appealing, format. Have an idea for a new CAL Board? Please share that with our website administrator, Michele Morris.

Twitter:
While we haven’t quite figured out how to best utilize Twitter for CAL’s benefit, we do have a Twitter account set up if you’d like to start following CAL: @COAuthorsLeague

The CAL Board hopes you’ll enjoy the more social CAL and let us know what you think!
