In a time when more books and all types of writing are being published than ever before, CAL is offering local authors and writers a series of six programs to sharpen skills in the CAL ‘Second Saturday Series’ – you won’t want to miss these programs, so mark your calendars now!
The first session, Here Comes the Pitch: How to Succeed as a Freelance Writer, is set for Saturday, September 13 from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on the Front Range Community College Westminster campus. Panelists will include local writers/authors Diana Rowe, Rachel Cernansky and Rob Reuteman, as well as editor Jon Rizzi. Visit the event page on the CAL website to sign up today for this first event in the series.
Throughout the remainder of 2014 and the first half of 2015, five additional programs are scheduled. The six-session series is built on the foundation of programs conducted by CAL in 2013. Events are open to the public – those who register in advance will receive a discounted rate, while full price will be charged at the door. The half-day sessions typically will be $20 in advance, $30 at the door for CAL members. The cost for non-members is $10 more. Full-day programs will be priced based on the costs associated with presenters, venue fees and other factors.
The programs address such topics as:
~creative selling in self-publishing
~improving the craft of writing, interviewing and editing
~business factors an author should consider when determining whether to move forward with a book/writing project
~book promotion, publicity and marketing
~the intricacies of writing fiction
