The next program in the Colorado Authors’ League “Second Saturday” series is the CAL Craft Fair, presented in partnership with the Arapahoe Community College Writers Studio on February 14th from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM at Arapahoe Community College. This Craft Fair isn’t your typical craft fair, though. Rather than a time to buy handmade crafts, this is an opportunity to attend intensive sessions on various aspects of the craft of writing. Three rounds of three simultaneous breakout sessions will be held during the day-long program. Some topics will be repeated. Expert presenters will lead programs in six important disciplines:
Fine-tuning Your Writing, by BK Loren, award-winning novelist and acclaimed speaker at writing conferences and workshops
Elements of Good Editing, by Diane Hartman, former Auburn University instructor and long-time editor
Basics of Screenwriting, by Bruce Leaf, award-winning screenwriter
Productive Interviewing, by Norm Clarke, Las Vegas Review-Journal columnist and 2015 Damon Runyon Award recipient
Successful Research, by Pamela Hallaren, Arapahoe Library District research librarian
Improved Story Organization and Structure, by Terry Frei, author of eight fiction and non-fiction books
Advance registration is encouraged.
The CAL Craft Fair will feature three groups of three simultaneous breakout sessions, covering six topics. Topics and presenters are listed in the program announcement.
Some topics will be repeated; others will be offered only once.
To help us determine in advance the level of interest in each of the six topics, please click on this link to fill out the form to indicate the three topics that most interest you.
_____ Fine-tuning your writing, BK Loren
_____ What makes good editing, and what to expect from an editor, Diane Hartman
_____ Getting the most out of research, Pamela Hallaren

This will help us plan the three groups of offerings and ensure that, if two of your topics are offered at the same time in one group, they’ll be offered in one or both of the other groups so that you are able to attend both. The schedule grid of breakout sessions will be arranged based on your responses.

There will be a lunch break. Registrants have a choice of bringing their own lunch, or paying $15 extra for a box lunch from Strawberries Catering. If you choose to order a box lunch (Veggie Wrap box lunch or Turkey Sandwich box lunch), you must signup in By February 7th at the latest through the PayPal button below to place your order.
