Tom Noel, with co-authors Jane Harper and Craig W. Leavitt, has just published Colorado Newspapers: A History & Inventory, 1859-1900 (Denver: Colorado Press Association, 2015). This includes brief histories and anecdotes about more than 3,000 newspapers published in Colorado. An estimatted 90 % have disappeared without a single extant copy. Jane Harper who did the bulk of the work over the past 50 years new many of the papers and their staffs and uses their stories to make this a warm, detailed look at gazettes, including such colorfuly titled sheets as the Brighton Blade, Como Headlight, Fairplay Flume, Rifle Sharpshooter and Steamboat Pilot.
