The personal essay strives for the same outcome as good fiction – engaging storytelling. What motivates the narrative nonfiction writer is often what motivates the novelist. During this one-day luncheon seminar, we’ll look at narrative tension, the use of detail to evoke atmosphere and symbolism, and the use of historical context to enrich our stories.
