Four special Colorado Authors’ League events, featuring recent books by CAL authors, will be held at the Denver Press Club in 2016 in an expansion of the Press Club’s Book Beat program. Four CAL authors will be chosen to participate each CAL Book Beat evening. All programs will be scheduled on Fridays, one each quarter of the year. The first CAL Book Beat will be held on Friday, March 11, starting at 6:30 p.m.
CAL members who have released books since January 1, 2015 are invited to express their interest in participating in a CAL Book Beat program by emailing CAL President Denny Dressman at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Emails should include the title and release date of the author’s latest book, a brief description of its content, and a statement detailing how the author will help publicize his/her participation (emails, social media, Web site, etc.). Deadline for consideration for the first event is February 19th.
In addition to efforts by participating authors, CAL Book Beat programs will be promoted in the Denver Press Club’s weekly newsletter and on the Press Club Website, and on the CAL Website.
Book Beats are free and open to the public. All CAL and Press Club members, and the public, will be encouraged to attend.
Denver 8 TV, the municipal cable channel that’s available online and to Comcast subscribers within the Denver city limits, records many Press Club Book Beat programs and plays them several times in the weeks that follow. Some CAL Book Beat programs may be among the ones recorded.
