Manuel Ramos is a finalist for the Shamus Award from the Private Eye Writers of America.  Ramos, two-time winner of the Colorado Book Award for his crime fiction, is listed for the Shamus in the Original Private Eye Paperback category for his most recent novel, My Bad:  A Mile High Noir (Arte Público Press).  The winners in the various categories will be announced in September. My Bad is set in Denver against the drama and conflict of the rapidly-changing city, as told by two longtime Denver residents:   Luis Móntez, lawyer and central character in several of Ramos’s earlier novels, and Gus Corral, investigator and Denver native who grew up on the city’s streets and now has to adapt to an almost entirely new home town.   The Shamus has been awarded annually since 1982.
