Soldier Sister, Fly Home Soon Available as a Talking Book

Posted on July 28, 2017 | in Member News | by

Arizona State Library has chosen Soldier Sister, Fly Home as one of their audio selections for the Arizona Talking Book Library.  Earlier this year Colorado Author’s League awarded this middle-grade novel as winner of Best Juvenile Fiction. As an audio book, Soldier Sister, Fly Home, will be available nation wide through the Talking Book program. Flood shared, “I am especially pleased because while working on Soldier Sister I came to know the Piestewa family. The novel is dedicated to their daughter, Lori Piestewa, the first Native American woman to die in foreign battle. Mr. Terry Piestewa is a Vietnam Veteran.  His eyes were damaged during the war and now he can barely see light and shadows. He wanted to read Soldier Sister, Fly Home. Soon he will be able to listen to it. How special that this book about families and deployment will be available to all, including veterans, who have diminished eyesight.”
