Penrose Book Honored with CIPA Award

Centennial author Joyce Lohse’s 2016 biography, Spencer Penrose: Builder and Benefactor, published by Filter Press, was 2nd place winner for best biography in the Colorado Independent Publishers Association (CIPA) EVVY Awards contest. CIPA’s annual banquet and awards presentation was held on Saturday, August 19 at the Forney Transportation Museum in Denver. Spencer Penrose is Lohse’s seventh biography published by Filter Press, and her fifth CIPA award. Joyce Lohse’s history symposium paper, “The Penrose Legacy: Ventures, Vogue, and Vagary,” was featured in Bigwigs & Benefactors of the Pikes Peak Region, a compilation published by the Pikes Peak Library District. She was program speaker for the May book launch at Penrose Library in Colorado Springs.
