CAL'S 2008 COLORADO BOOK AWARD FINALISTS

DENVER ­ - The Colorado Center for the Book at Colorado Humanities announced the finalists for the 2008 Colorado Book Awards, and several CAL authors are on the list. "This year's selectors read and discussed 132 entries to select these authors and their works for the Colorado Book Awards finalist level," says Josephine Jones, Colorado Humanities Director of Programs & Center for the Book.

Colorado Authors' League member works include:

  • The Girl with the Braided Hair, Margaret Coel, Berkley Publishing Group
  • Storey's Illustrated Guide to Poultry Breeds, Carol Ekarius, Storey Publishing
  • The Traitor King, Todd Mitchell, Scholastic Press
  • Guide to Colorado Historic Places, Thomas Noel, Westcliffe Publishing
  • Red Glass, Laura Resau, Random House
  • The Denver Mint: 100 Years of Gangsters, Gold, and Ghosts, Lisa Ray Turner and Kimberly Field, Mapletree Publishing

Winners in all categories will be announced at the 17th annual Colorado Book Awards on Wednesday, October 8 at the Tivoli Turnhalle on the Auraria Campus in Denver. Tickets for trade professionals are $55 and for the public ticket prices are $65. If you wish to purchase a table at this event, the cost is $550 for a ten-seat table. Tickets to the event include reception, dinner, award announcement, and readings from Colorado Book Award winners.
