The Colorado Authors’ League Co-Op Book Booth is moving to a new venue in 2015, and CAL is making it more affordable than ever to take part. After two years as part of the Junior League of Denver Holiday Mart, CAL members and other authors in Colorado will be able to sell their books to a new audience at the 12th annual Colorado Country Christmas at the Denver Merchandise Mart November 6-8. The first 40 CAL members who sign up will receive a $50 subsidy from CAL, and will have the opportunity to recover their registration fee in full. The cost to the first 40 CAL authors who register by the PayPal link below is $50. CAL also will receive 10% of sales proceeds – but only after each author’s first $50 in sales. So, for example, a CAL member who is among the 40 who qualify for this special arrangement and who sells $300 worth of books, will keep the first $50 to cover the registration cost, and will receive $225 of the remaining $250.
“The Colorado Country Christmas show attracts approximately 25,000 shoppers in its three days,” said CAL President Mike Madigan. “That not only represents a much bigger audience than at Holiday Mart, but it offers exposure to a largely new clientele that has not seen our books in previous years. “We feel the subsidy CAL is providing will make it more cost-effective for members to participate and enjoy success,” he added.
The 2015 Co-Op Booth will enjoy a corner location near the entrance, which should provide much better exposure, and will have a festive holiday season décor. “We think we can exceed our previous sales levels,” Madigan said, noting that the Co-Op Booth sold more than 300 books each of its first two years.
Non-CAL members who participate will not be eligible for the CAL subsidy. Registration is $100. But half of their Colorado Country Christmas fee will be applied to CAL membership if they choose to apply and meet CAL criteria.
