Building Tension in Your MG/YA Novel

We’ll explore the difference between conflict and tension as well as the connection between emotion and tension before looking at some strategies for increasing the tension in your novel.
Denise Vega is the award-winning author of four books for middle school and young adult readers, including her blog books: Click Here (to find out how i survived seventh grade) a Scholastic Book Club/Fair bestselling title and a Colorado Book Award winner – and Access Denied (and other eighth grade error messages). Vega has taught writing classes and workshops for a variety of organizations, community education and enrichment programs, and has spoken and presented at a number of conferences. She is on faculty at Lighthouse Writers Workshop in Denver as well as a Young Adult Fiction faculty mentor for the Regis University MFA in Creative Writing.
