Lou Dean Workshops at the Rifle Library

Lou Dean will be speaking at the Rifle Library at 6:00 p.m. on April 6th about her eight books. She will be teaching a two-hour workshop for aspiring teen writers at Rifle Middle School April 7th. Local book clubs are reading On My Ass/Riding the Midlife Crisis Trail and the kids are reading CAL Award Winning novel, Reaching for the Reins, before Lou’s visit.

The Descendants of Charles II, Vol 4, by Daniel A. Willis

Volume 4 of Daniel Willis’ 10-volume genealogical series, The Descendants of Charles II, is set for an April 11th release. King Charles II of England and Scotland could well have been called the Father of his Country. Although he had no children by his Queen, he recognized 15 illegitimate children by seven different women. This series seeks to trace out the thousands of descendants of those 15 children. Along the way, brief biographical information will be presented of those families featured in each volume. Volume 4 features the family of the Dukes of Grafton, Charles younger surviving son by his most infamous mistress, Lady Castlemaine. Paperback only, can be ordered from any online book seller.

Poetry by Art Elser Featured by University Hospital

Art Elser had three poems accepted in The Human Touch, the literary arts journal of Colorado University Hospital, “I Read to My New Grandson,” “The Terror of the Breathing Tube,” and “To See the World in a Grain of Sand.”  In January, Art published his second book of poetry, A Death at Tollgate Creek: Songs of the prairie.

Bosworth, by Michael Selden

Michael Selden’s fourth book,Bosworth: A Coming of Age Paranormal Drama, has been released in both print and Kindle formats. Jim and his mom moved into town and away from the city after his father was killed in an automobile accident. He struggles to deal with the loss of his dad and is still recovering from his own injuries. Bo the beagle, a long-time imaginary childhood companion, returned to Jim during his stay in the hospital‹a fact his mother reluctantly accepts. Bosworth is an old town filled with Victorian era homes, but there¹s more in store for him than just old houses and imaginary friends. A dark, hidden fear has been with the town for longer than most can remember. People don¹t speak about it, but Jim and his friends will soon learn that they can¹t avoid it. Bosworth, which takes place between September and November 2015, is a coming of age story and a dark paranormal drama set in the small fictional town of Bosworth, in Orange County New York.

Welcome New CAL Member Bronwyn Long

Bronwyn Long is a nurse by day and writer by night. Her pen name, Rohret Buchner, honors grandmothers whose courage and determination are the inspiration for intrepid heroines. Length of Days and Poetry of Days are the first two books in the science fiction/fantasy Shalemar Trilogy. Bronwyn is published in health care-related academic journals and was a freelance wine writer for Examiner.com and coloradowineandfood.com. Bronwyn lives with her husband in Denver.
