Her essay, Bathing, was named a notable essay in Best American Essays 2011 and is included, with the essay, (Note to Self): The Lyric Essay, in 6th edition of The Fourth Genre: Contemporary Writers of/an Creative Nonfiction textbook/anthology. Her essays, Heresies of the Holy and Of Wind and Fire have been finalists for the 7th and 8th Annual Fourth Genre Steinberg Essay Prize. Her essay, Elegies, was a finalist for the University of New Orleans Study Abroad Programs in Arts and Writing Writing Contest.
