Colorado Authors League 79th Annual Writing Awards Finalists and Lifetime Achievement Award Winner

First-ever virtual awards ceremony on June 7th

The Colorado Authors League is proud to announce the finalists for the 79th Annual CAL Writing Awards and Lifetime Achievement Award Winner, nature writer Mary Taylor Young.

On June 7th at 8:00 p.m. CAL will host a virtual awards ceremony- the first ever in our organization's 89-year history. The ceremony will be broadcast in a live FaceBook Watch Party on our Facebook page as well as being made available on our website
coloradoauthors.org and YouTube channel.

Each spring since 1942 CAL has recognized multiple works across several different categories and genres and one author with a Lifetime Achievement Award. More than 90 CAL members submitted published works for consideration of this year's writing awards. Past Lifetime Achievement Award winners include poet Lois Beebe Hayna, children’s writer Phyllis Perry, and mystery writer Clive Cussler.

This year four of our members are also up for the Colorado Book Awards through the Colorado Center for the Book to be given out on May 30th. They include Clive Cussler (deceased) and Dirk Cussler for Celtic Empire and Margaret Mizushisa for Tracking Game. Both CAL Writing Awards and Colorado Book Awards have named Jim Kroepfl and Stephanie Kroepfl for Merged and Harper McDavid for Zapata as award finalists.

Be sure to follow CAL online and watch the 79th Annual Writing Awards ceremony on June 7th at 8:00 p.m..
